There has been a lot of talk around Paulo Dybala and his future at Serie A side Roma. At one point, it felt like he was destined to end up at Boca Juniors but the constant change in the situation is now at a point where a renewal looks likely.
Corriere dello Sport report that La Joya has been waiting for Roma for weeks now. He held discussions with sporting director Ricky Massara a while ago about a potential renewal. What followed was silence but led to Dybala proving himself on the pitch.
Now, Roma are in the top four and if they qualify for the Champions League, his renewal will become likely.
The Argentine is keen on taking a wage cut to make things easier for Roma. He is happy to sign a new deal which has structured bonuses and works on the Giallorossi’s terms.
In the meantime, his agent met with the club at the weekend. The parties communicated a desire to continue together and will meet again at the end of the season. By then, Roma’s Champions League spot could be confirmed and they will be in a better financial situation.
Regardless, both parties want to continue together and there is a feeling that Dybala will stay in Rome.
A deal like this should make sense for all parties. Dybala does make a mark when he takes to the pitch and even if he isn’t a physical specimen by any means, his technical ability is appreciated by Gian Piero Gasperini.
He is keen on staying and Roma won’t have problems affording a contract which is based on conditional bonuses. They will have little to lose and more to gain. It is low risk and if Dybala does play well, they will only benefit from his abilities.
