Barcelona are closing in on the signing of highly-rated winger Roony Bardghji from Copenhagen, with the deal now said to be in its final stages.

The 19-year-old is out of contract in December and has already informed the Danish club that he will not renew.

The same terms had been offered by Porto, but Bardghji is understood to prefer a move to Spain, with personal terms expected to be agreed soon.

Barcelona plan to integrate the Sweden under-21 international into Hansi Flick’s pre-season squad, which begins training on July 13.

Despite missing much of the 2024–25 season with a knee injury, Bardghji has remained on the radar of several top clubs thanks to his earlier exploits.

He scored 10 goals across all competitions in 2023, including a Champions League winner against Manchester United, before falling out of favour amid contract tensions.

Barcelona first showed serious interest in Bardghji late last year, alongside the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea.

But after he rejected renewal talks and spent time away from the squad, Copenhagen froze him out for much of the season.

Bardghji returned to training in May 2024 and made his comeback on March 31, 2025, having spent 11 months on the sidelines.

Many clubs cooled their interest following his injury, but Barcelona maintained contact and were reassured by medical reports on his recovery.

Reports have indicated that Bardghji’s preference for Barcelona played a key role, as the winger has supported the Catalan club since childhood.

His admiration for the club is visible in past social media posts, and he reportedly views this as a dream move despite competing offers.

Olympique de Marseille had also shown interest, but medical doubts ended their pursuit.

Porto pushed hard and had reached a verbal agreement with Copenhagen, but could not persuade the player.

Barcelona’s deal is expected to be wrapped up by the end of June, with only final formalities remaining.

Bardghji will join fellow summer arrival Joan Garcia, and the club remains confident of completing a separate deal for Nico Williams ahead of the new season.
