As Wolves end their 2025/26 campaign against Burnley this afternoon, a single stolen chicken nugget unexpectedly delivered the club’s most feelgood moment.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, a challenging season of flat displays and off-field unease briefly gave way to pure joy thanks to four-year-old fan Rory Smith.

In January, during a goalless draw with Newcastle United, cameras captured Rory’s distress as dad Tom pinched a nugget. The clip went viral, with fans dubbing Tom the nugget thief.

Wolves acted swiftly, inviting Rory back to Molineux and safeguarding his next box. During the home defeat to Bournemouth, mascot Wolfie delivered fresh nuggets and a shirt, with announcers making clear dad was to keep his distance.

Then came an unlikely twist. Aldi UK, on the lookout for its first official chicken nugget taster, noticed Rory’s enthusiasm and offered him a role as a mini nugget tasting expert, sampling items from its range.

The supermarket said his love of nuggets had resonated nationwide, while Tom joked the treats would now be his son’s, not his.

In a year short on smiles, Rory’s tale united supporters and showed Wolves at their best.
