Eighteen years after leaving his boyhood club, Ángel Di María was officially unveiled this Monday, July 7, in the Hall Centenario. In front of the press and fans, the Argentine winger couldn't hide his emotion.

Ángel Di María has made his return to Rosario Central, the club where he began his career. It’s a dream comeback for the former Real Madrid player. “This means more than anything I’ve done. Coming back home, living in Rosario, and wearing the Central shirt is truly special,” the player declared emotionally during his first press conference.

Di María’s return to Rosario didn’t go unnoticed by Lionel Messi. The Inter Miami superstar sent a heartfelt message in the days leading up to his comeback: “Leo wrote to me recently. He waited a bit because my phone was blowing up, but he congratulated me, wished me luck, and told me he was happy that I could make my dream come true,” the forward recounted.

Back in Argentina, Di María is fully aware of the challenges that await him in Argentine football, a league far tougher than Europe or even the national team: “I know how the game is played, how it’s lived here. Wearing the Central shirt is no small matter. Today, I no longer wear the Argentina jersey, and I know I won’t be warmly received everywhere,” he admitted with candor.
