We can’t believe we’re writing about this just two months after he was appointed – but here we are discussing the terms under which Liam Rosenior could be sacked – or could save his job.
It’s a sign of how quickly things have collapsed in the last two weeks that this is even a matter of discussion.
His predecessors Enzo Maresca and Mauricio Pochettino were basically told to finish in the Champions League places, and were lined up for summer reviews at the end of each season. But a report from the Sun today claims that Rosenior “will be Chelsea boss until the end of the season” and “could survive even if the Blues fail to qualify for the Champions League.”
Presumably that’s because it’s felt he needs to be judged on full season. He’s barely had a full training session since being appointed given the number of games he’s had since arriving. That’s fair enough.
But many supporters have seen enough, and wouldn’t mind him going today. If the bad results continue, the atmosphere could get really toxic.
There is some good news – Chelsea are apparently hopeful about the injury Trevoh Chalobah picked up.
ESPN pundits laid into Liam Rosenior’s actions with a tactical note late in the game.
