African representation at the World Cup is well established, and performances such as Morocco’s run, Egypt’s repeated near-misses in the final stages of qualification, and Cape Verde’s emergence as a surprise package all form part of the long list of memorable storylines that have defined football’s most extraordinary competition. The real development in the 2026 edition, however, lies in the consistency, growth and competitiveness of Arab nations. The draws achieved by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, alongside the qualification of Iran stand out as clear statements of intent, despite differing sporting and footballing structures. Across the Gulf region, football is on an upward trajectory, with a new and expanding competitive landscape beginning to take shape, which AC Milan recognised early on. The Rossoneri’s presence across the Gulf countries is already firmly established, built on strategic partnerships for brand development, agreements in the medical sector, and targeted marketing initiatives. At the heart of this network is the long-standing relationship with Emirates, the Dubai-based airline and Principal Partner as well as shirt sponsor of AC Milan since 2007. In 2023, this partnership was further strengthened with the opening of Casa Milan Dubai, consolidating the Club’s footprint in the region.

AC Milan’s fanbase continues to grow significantly across the area. In key strategic markets such as Saudi Arabia, the Club has established an AC Milan Academy in Jeddah, designed to support the development of young talent and promote its training methodology. The Club is also active in the medical sector in Saudi Arabia through a partnership with Al Hammadi Holding. The project aims to export the expertise of MilanLab and establish centres of excellence dedicated to sports medicine and rehabilitation across the country. Beyond sport and performance, AC Milan has also engaged in cultural initiatives, reflecting its respect and connection with host nations. On several occasions, such as editions of the Supercoppa Italiana held in Saudi Arabia, the Club has taken to the pitch with player names printed in Arabic. Former AC Milan defender Luca Antonini, a Serie A champion with the Rossoneri in 2011, is also involved in youth development in the region, serving as head of the academy sector at United FC in Dubai.
