Lee Clark has been appointed Rotherham United head coach as the Millers battle to preserve their League One status. He is a former Sunderland and Newcastle United midfielder.
The club said in a statement that the 53-year-old has signed a deal running until the end of the 2025/26 season and takes charge immediately.
Rotherham sit 22nd, five points behind Blackpool with a game in hand. On Tuesday they lost 5-0 to Peterborough United, after which the club parted company with Matt Hamshaw.
With league leaders Lincoln City up next, Rotherham moved quickly and confirmed Clark’s arrival at AESSEAL New York Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. A press conference will be held tomorrow to unveil him and preview the trip, where he will oversee his first match.
Wallsend-born Clark has managed Huddersfield Town and had spells in charge of Birmingham City, Blackpool and Kilmarnock. Most recently he led Al-Merrikh in the Sudan Premier League.
