Ruben Amorim has confirmed that he will continue using both Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo each week until the pair jet off to the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

From Manchester United fans’ perspective, it’s very much a case of ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’, as the two players have endured superb starts to the term – particularly when they’ve been deployed together.

Amad has started seven of United’s nine Premier League matches played this campaign, being substituted into the clash against Arsenal on the opening day and being granted bereavement leave for the trip to Brentford.

Mbeumo, on the other hand, has been included in the starting XI for every game thus far, which isn’t too surprising, given he started every single matchweek for Brentford in 2024/2025.

The Cameroonian forward has returned a stellar four goals and one assist, with his most notable contributions coming in the last two outings; an opening goal inside two minutes to aid United on their way to a historic 2-1 win at Anfield after a nine-and-a-half-year wait, followed by a brace to seal all three points against Brighton and Hove Albion last Saturday.

Amorim actually has some pretty impressive depth in attack; Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee are all chomping at the bit to add to their minutes, especially with the side playing only once a week until their FA Cup campaign gets underway.

Don’t expect any changes on the right-hand side for the next couple of months, though, as Amorim told reporters on Thursday after discussing the impact AFCON will have on his squad: “Let’s use Amad and Bryan in these games and then we’ll see in January (when they’re unavailable).”

Next up for the Reds is a contest away to 18th-placed Nottingham Forest in one of tomorrow’s 3pm kick-off slots.
