Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Juventus defender Danilo in the January transfer window.
The 33-year-old defender would be a short-term acquisition for the Reds, but it is not a move I would have expected us to make under INEOS.
United prioritised younger signings like Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt in the summer. They also looked at England defender Jarrad Branthwaite before Everton priced him out of a dream move.
According to a report from Juve Live, new head coach Ruben Amorim feels that Danilo could improve United defensively.
This comes following reports that Danilo’s agent had been reaching out to numerous clubs, including United.
The Brazilian defender is under contract with Juventus until 2025, but the Serie A giants could be tempted to cash him for a reasonable price in January. Otherwise, they could lose the centre-back for free next summer.

There are reasons for and against United signing Danilo.
Having played in the Premier League before and won two league titles at Man City, Danilo has a wealth of experience that could benefit United.
However, there is a feeling that the club is making strides by signing the best young talent out there. A 33-year-old doesn’t fit the strategy being imposed by INEOS.
There could be exceptions along the way but Danilo seems like a wildcard option.
Of course, Danilo’s versatility would be a bonus for any team, but his best days are behind him.
United should be looking at younger players in the market.
Every man and his dog has been told about Amorim’s preferred system which consists of having three centre-backs on the pitch.
It looks like a back three when the team is in possession, however, it forms into a back five when the team is defending.
We saw this work wonders when Amorim’s Sporting CP side beat Man City 4-1 in the Champions League earlier this week.
