Rui Costa is preparing a major overhaul of Benfica’s B team at Seixal, with six players who have been standouts in recent seasons set to move on as the club reshapes the squad for a new generation.
Record writes that Benny Souza, Tomás Cruz and Kevin Pinto are also outside the club’s future plans.
Diogo Prioste is ending a three-season stint and is expected to leave the club on a permanent basis. The midfielder made 22 minutes in the Liga this season but never secured a regular first-team place.
Rodrigo Rêgo is due to depart, with the terms of both his and João Rego’s exits still to be decided. He featured five times under José Mourinho early in the campaign, then lost prominence after the winter window amid increased competition.
Winger João Rego has 28 first-team appearances across the past three seasons. He renewed until 2030 with a high clause after coming close to joining PAOK in the last winter window, yet fierce wing competition has limited his breakthrough.
The reshuffle opens the door for Rafael Quintas, Steven Manuel, Tomás Soares and Miguel Figueiredo to step up. Under-17 world champions Daniel Banjaqui, Anísio Cabral and José Neto are expected to split minutes between the B team and the senior side.
