Benfica are moving to safeguard the continuity of key academy staff, with Rui Costa pushing to wrap up three coaching renewals ahead of the new season.

Record writes that agreements are close with Vítor Vinha and Luís Araújo, but negotiations with Nélson Veríssimo, who leads the B team while coordinating closely with the first team, are proving more complex.

The 49-year-old remains hesitant, as he has other offers he may find more appealing, which could take him away from Luz. The club still plan to try to keep him. He has been in charge of the B side for three seasons.

Vítor Vinha has impressed with the under-23s and has also overseen the under-19s in Europe, while Luís Araújo leads the junior side in domestic competitions. Both are understood to have agreed and are preparing to extend their deals.

Club figures believe the coaches have earned a vote of confidence given their work to date and have moved to renew their contracts, yet uncertainty remains over Veríssimo’s future. In recent days he had yet to give a response.
