Rui Costa’s ex-Benfica prospect Martim Neto shines with assist in Elche’s draw with Sevilla | OneFootball

Martim Neto registered an assist as Elche drew 2-2 with Sevilla, helping his side claim a point against the Europa League’s record winners.

According to Glorioso 1904, the former Benfica midfielder moved to Elche in the last summer window for 1.5 million euros, later saying it was very difficult to turn down La Liga and Spain’s top flight.

Neto joined Benfica in 2015/16 and progressed through every youth level, playing a key role in the club’s UEFA Youth League triumph alongside Henrique Araújo, António Silva and João Neves.

He spent last season on loan at Rio Ave, having previously had a stint at Gil Vicente in 2023/24. The year before, he featured for Benfica B.

This season he has made 20 appearances for Elche, 16 in La Liga and four in the Copa del Rey, totalling 1,097 minutes. The midfielder has scored three goals and provided four assists.

He is currently valued at 5 million euros.
