Rulani Mokwena's MC Alger secured a 2-1 victory over Paradou AC in the Algerian Ligue 1 on Wednesday night.
Kipre Junior opened the scoring for the defending champions in the 11th minute, before Moslem Anatouf doubled the lead in the 72nd minute.
The visitors pulled one back in stoppage time through Fouad Kermiche, but MCA held on to claim the maximum points and their fourth consecutive win.
As a result, Mokwena's men climbed to third place on the log standings, having accumulated 13 points in five league outings.
MCA trail log leaders JS Soura with two points and have three games in hand as they remain the only team yet to taste defeat in the 2025/26 campaign, with four wins and one draw.
Mokwena's charges will now shift their focus to the return leg of their CAF Champions League second preliminary round tie against Colombe Sportive of Cameroon on Sunday, 26 October.
The two teams played to a one-all draw in the first leg in Yaounde last Sunday. The winner of the two-legged encounter will advance to the group phase of the competition.
Mokwena, 38, has been tasked with retaining the league title and reaching the latter stages of Africa's elite club competition.
