Sheffield United forward Ryan Oné has been linked with a move to Ipswich Town this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Tractor Boys are interested in the 18-year-old as a potential replacement for Liam Delap.

The Guardian have reported that Delap is attracting interest from both Chelsea and Manchester United amid a £30 million release clause that’s triggered if Ipswich are relegated.

If the forward departs, then a pursuit of Oné could be on the cards after his breakout into the Sheffield United first team squad under Chris Wilder.

Ryan Oné’s Sheffield United wages

Oné made the move to Bramall Lane from Scottish side Hamilton Academical in 2023, and earned his way into the first-team squad during the club’s time back in the Premier League last year.

The forward made one appearance in the Premier League last year, earning his debut against Arsenal off the bench in one of Paul Heckingbottom’s final games in charge.

Following the move to English football, Oné was given a contract worth £1,000 per week that runs until the summer of 2029.

Of the players in the Sheffield United first team squad this season, the 18-year-old has the lowest wage, which is unsurprising given how far down the pecking order he is.

The player is also still in the early stages of his career, and thus cannot command the kind of wage that would compare with teammates like Tom Cannon, Kieffer Moore or Rhian Brewster.

The highest paid player in the squad is Brewster, who earns £35,000 per week.

If Oné is going to remain a Sheffield United player, then a pay raise may be needed to convince him to turn down any potential interest from Ipswich.

But his contract running until 2029 does give the Blades a strong negotiating position this summer, as there will be no immediate need to cash in.

Ipswich’s best-paid permanent player at the moment is Axel Tuanzebe, with the defender earning £40,000 per week.

Oné is unlikely to earn a pay increase that would come close to that, with the forward more likely to be looking at other inexperienced players in Kieran McKenna’s squad.

This includes the likes of Cieran Slicker, who is on the cusp of breaking into the senior team.

The Scot is currently on a wage worth £3,000 per week, so Oné should be able to command a pay rise that at least matches that value, if not potentially even more.

Some of the lower-paid players in the Ipswich squad include the likes of Nathan Broadhead, Omari Hutchinson and Cameron Burgess.

The former pair are currently on deals valued at £6,000-a-week, with the Australian receiving £8,000 per week.
