Wrexham's latest share sale has opened the door to a significant payout for owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, with new backing from Apollo Sports Capital delivering a 47.8million cash boost.
Reports indicate the club could now be valued at up to 350m, a sharp rise on the 2m the pair paid in 2021.
On the pitch, Phil Parkinson has overseen three successive promotions to the Championship, while the Disney+ series Welcome to Wrexham has driven a surge in sponsors and global interest. Work is progressing on a new 7,750-capacity Kop stand, and the club has been linked with a 19m move for Angers forward Sidiki Cherif.
"There's no doubt that the market value of the club since Rob and Ryan acquired it a few years ago has been stratospheric. There is still potential growth, especially if the club gets to the Premier League, which you've got a fair chance of doing."
He was speaking on the Fearless in Devotion podcast.
"I think Apollo have seen this as an opportunity for them to make a financial return, as well as other people who have invested historically. There seems to be a lot of bitterness and jealousy from third parties who don't understand how investment works."
"This is a case of getting cash up front, utilising that cash to invest and seeing things continue to progress on the pitch, which in turn, increases the value of the business. They could sell their shares today and make a very tidy profit."
Wrexham sit sixth in the Championship, occupying the final play-off place, and travel to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. Their hosts entered administration in October.
