Sadio Mane has finally revealed the full details behind his famous on field frustration with Mohamed Salah during Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Burnley on 31 August 2019.

The Senegal captain now playing for Al Nassr was speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast when he discussed his relationship with the Egyptian forward.

"Mo is great player and very nice guy. People say there was competition but that’s not true not in bad way"

He explained that during matches, decisions happen fast:

"Sometimes he passed to me, sometimes he didn’t. It’s normal. Even I didn’t pass to him in every situation"

The real story: what happened after the Burnley match

Mane admitted he was genuinely angry that day because Salah refused clear pass inside the box:

"I was really angry because I thought he could have passed to me. I reacted and everybody saw it"

But the day after, Salah approached him:

"He came to me wanting to talk but didn’t know how to start. He said: 'Do you think I didn’t want to pass to you?' He told me he had decided to shoot the moment he got the ball"

Mane replied calmly:

"I told him: don’t worry. You could have passed, yes because you had the quality to do it. But it’s over"

"From that day, we became even closer"

According to Mane, that conversation strengthened their bond:

"From that day we became closer. Sometimes when he sees the goal, he doesn’t see anyone , it happens. It was never personal"

Mane even joked about helping Salah achieve his goalscoring ambitions:

"I told him: 'Mo, you want to be the top scorer , I can help you. I don’t have problem with that'".
