Salah hails historic Egypt win as ‘one of the best days of my life’ | OneFootball

Mo Salah says Egypt’s penalty shoot-out triumph over Australia to reach the last 16 of the World Cup was one of the best days of his life.

After a 1-1 draw, Egypt prevailed 4-2 on penalties to set up a round of 16 clash with Lionel Messi and reigning world champions Argentina.

Salah is still nursing a hamstring problem but says he will continue to fight through the pain for his country.

“I don’t know if it’s going to be the last dance for a few players, a few great players or not, but my feeling today is incredible,” Salah said after the game.

“I always feel proud to wear the shirt. Nothing makes me more proud than that. I always like seeing the boys happy and, enjoying the moment. Nothing can match that.

“So today was one of the best days in my life. Made history with the team and try to give my best and play while I’m hurt. Because this is what I do for the country.

“So yeah, I’m very proud of the moment and very proud of the boys. And I don’t want to take any credit from them. And just like, they wrote the history today.”
