The Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah (33) is edging closer to a comeback with Liverpool, following Egypt's exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted in Morocco.
Senegal and Morocco have both secured their places in the final, scheduled for January 18, after Senegal edged past Egypt (1-0) and Morocco triumphed over Nigeria in a penalty shootout (4-2) following a goalless draw after regular time and extra time.
Knocked out in the semi-finals, the "Pharaohs" will face Nigeria in the third-place playoff, which will delay Mohamed Salah's return to England until the end of next week.
According to reports from the British daily The Express, Mohamed Salah will still miss the upcoming Premier League clash against Burnley. His participation in the Champions League fixture against Marseille, scheduled for January 21, also remains uncertain.
The Egyptian captain is expected to return either for the home match against Bournemouth on January 24 or for the away trip to Qarabag on January 28 in the Champions League.
Mohamed Salah is enduring a challenging season with Liverpool, marked by a dip in his attacking output, which has seen him start several matches on the bench under Dutch manager Arne Slot.
