Samuel Lino emerged as a standout for Leonardo Jardim’s Flamengo during their Algarve camp, impressing in training and across the friendlies.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the No 16 looked well integrated in sessions, then carried that form into matches to underline his growing influence.
Flamengo began with a 2-2 draw against River Plate, where Lino scored and set up Bruno Henrique for the second. He was the side’s most involved threat while on the pitch.
In the final outing, a 2-1 win over Benfica, he opened the scoring and later set up Wallace Yan to seal the result. Across the three games he contributed to four goals, with two goals and two assists.
With Arrascaeta and Paquetá absent, Lino operated more centrally, offering the staff a fresh tactical variation. Since Jardim’s arrival he has been used differently and his output has improved, and he has spoken about tweaks made to maximise his strengths.
After the 2-1 win in Portugal, Flamengo return to Brazil to face Olímpia on Friday 17, their last friendly before the Brasileirão resumes.
