San Lorenzo confirm Néstor Gorosito as head coach after 22 years | OneFootball

San Lorenzo have appointed Néstor Raúl "Pipo" Gorosito as head coach, sealing his return after 22 years for a second spell.

The club said in a post that the appointment was unveiled with an emotive video carrying the line "No te sorprenda volverme a ver". The clip opens with Gorosito calling San Lorenzo his club and the one he loves most.

He replaces Gustavo Álvarez, who left at the start of pre-season amid differences with the board.

The hierarchy worked against the clock, and when the Iker Muniain possibility fell through over licensing rules, they moved swiftly for Pipo.

An agreement was reached in recent hours and made official through the presentation. Gorosito will sign a one year contract and is tasked with restoring confidence, stability and results.

His first stint ran from 2003 to 2004, bringing 46 matches, 22 wins, 12 draws and 12 defeats. As a player, he had been a leading San Lorenzo idol.

The immediate target is the Copa Argentina round of 32 tie with Deportivo Riestra on 17 July at 18.45.
