Santos extend goalkeeper Diógenes’ deal to 2028 | OneFootball

Santos have extended goalkeeper Diógenes’ contract to the end of 2028, with the deal registered in the CBF’s BID on Monday 30.

According to Diario Do Peixe, his previous agreement ran to December and the renewal includes a pay rise. The 25-year-old, 1.90m, is understudy to Gabriel Brazão, with Rodrigo Falcão and João Pedro also competing.

Diógenes has four senior appearances. He debuted as a starter in a 2-0 win at Ituano in October 2024 in Série B when Brazão was suspended.

In 2025 he played 22 minutes in a 1-1 draw at Atlético-MG after Brazão suffered a head clash, and he also featured in friendlies against Coritiba and Red Bull Leipzig.

Signed from Avaí in 2020, he progressed through the youth ranks and impressed in the 2022 Copa São Paulo run to the final with penalty saves, before a brief disciplinary exclusion and later reinstatement.

He spent much of 2023 on the bench under Odair Hellmann. In 2024 he was initially separated, then returned after a move for Tadeu of Goiás fell through, serving as back-up to Fábio Carille in the Paulista and Série B. Last year he played the two friendlies and came on against Atlético-MG, this year he has been an unused substitute.
