Andrey Santos asked to leave Chelsea in search of more minutes this summer, ahead of the midfielder’s move to Manchester United.
Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Santos for an initial £48m, with a further £2m in add-ons. The Brazil international has agreed personal terms with Michael Carrick’s side and is due to undergo a medical before completing the move.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Santos requested to leave Chelsea amid a lack of minutes in 2025/26. After returning from a loan spell at Strasbourg, Santos made only 13 starts in the Premier League.
He requested an exit and interest from Manchester United was seen as the ideal environment for the next step of his career.
Santos is set to be joined at Old Trafford by Brazil teammate Ederson, who is set to undergo another medical examination before completing his £35m move to the club from Atalanta.
The duo will boost the club’s midfield options following Manuel Ugarte’s knee injury and Casemiro’s exit as a free agent.
