Neymar has been named in Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad, leaving Santos as the only São Paulo giant with a national-team call-up.

According to Diario Do Peixe, Carlo Ancelotti also selected Brazil-based players Weverton of Grêmio, defenders Danilo, Léo Pereira and Alex Sandro of Flamengo, and midfielders Lucas Paquetá of Flamengo and Danilo of Botafogo.

Rival São Paulo clubs may still have representatives at the finals with other nations. At Corinthians, Memphis Depay remains a regular with the Netherlands despite recent injuries, and André Carrillo continues to feature for Peru.

Palmeiras could have strong international representation. For Paraguay, centre-back Gustavo Gómez and Ramón Sosa are in the frame, while midfielder Maurício, who recently obtained Paraguayan citizenship, has also come into consideration for the tournament.

In addition, Jhon Arias is a Colombia starter, and Flaco López has been monitored by Argentina during the cycle.

At São Paulo, centre-back Robert Arboleda remains a key figure for Ecuador, while midfielder Damián Bobadilla has gained opportunities with Paraguay during the qualifiers.

Santos are also monitoring midfielder Diego Caballero, on loan at Portsmouth, who could yet make Paraguay’s World Cup squad.

Neymar’s inclusion ends a 16-year wait for a Santos player to be called up by Brazil for a World Cup. The last was Robinho for the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
