São Paulo court grants injunction allowing compliant Corinthians members with under five years to vote in the 20 June assembly on Statute reform at Parque São Jorge.
According to Meu Timao, Judge Guilherme Augusto de Oliveira Barna, of the fourth Civil Court, authorised voting by all members admitted by eight May, provided they are over 18 and paid up.
The request was filed by Eduardo Pereira de Lira Neto, Fabiano Mastrangeli Madeira, Helio Yasushi Mine, Rudnei Arone Junior, Sergio Henrique Ohno and Carlos Fabiano Barroso Rivera. It contests Article 44, which limits Assemblies to those with over five years.
The decision notes the plaintiffs are active and paid up, and says barring financially compliant members from a vote to reform the Statute conflicts with Civil Code Article 55 on equal rights.
The judge also cited the General Sports Law, Law 14,597/2023, saying it has exclusive force over statute changes and requires democratic governance and a broad electorate. He said the club rule would prevent others from taking part. The electorate could reach 10,000.
A double tally was ordered, separating ballots from the newly eligible and from those already entitled. All members must be notified within three days, under daily fines of R$ 20,000 up to R$ 500,000 for non-compliance.
Corinthians can appeal within 15 days. Associates will cast yes or no votes on each part of the new Statute, including the base text rejected by councillors, with the voting format still to be defined.
