Sarri hits out at Lotito over Mandas sale after Provedel injury | OneFootball

Maurizio Sarri has criticised Lazio president Claudio Lotito after Ivan Provedel was ruled out for the season, leaving 21-year-old Edoardo Motta to make his Serie A debut against Sassuolo.

“It is certainly a major absence. I was totally against the decision to sell Mandas. Now we have a young lad with some qualities, we’ll see what he does on the field,” Sarri said, speaking to DAZN Italia.

Provedel has undergone shoulder surgery for a tendon tear that ends his campaign. Motta joined from Reggina in January.

The message was aimed at Lotito, who sanctioned Christos Mandas’s loan to Bournemouth in January for €1.5m, with an option to buy for a further €18.5m.

Mandas had made only one appearance for Lazio this season, in the Coppa Italia, and has yet to feature for Bournemouth.

The atmosphere has also been affected by an ongoing home boycott, with ultras abandoning the Stadio Olimpico for the past four matches in protest at Lotito.

“It’s depressing, horrible, and it’s time the club does something about this,” Sarri added.
