Maurizio Sarri is reportedly being lined up for a Napoli return, with Antonio Conte set to depart and a three-year deal prepared.
Il Mattino reports that Conte and Napoli have agreed to end their two-year collaboration after a meeting with Aurelio De Laurentiis, with Sarri the leading candidate. The offer is for three years at €2.6 million a season, rising to €3.2 million with Champions League bonuses.
Sarri remains a popular figure at Lazio but has been at odds with president Claudio Lotito since the start of the season. He has voiced frustration at his status and exclusion from decisions, while Lotito has insisted nobody at the club is indispensable.
In recent months, Italian reports suggested he would not resign again after stepping down in March 2024, leaving any change to Lotito. An approach from a former employer could yet alter that stance.
Napoli have identified Sarri as their preferred successor, and De Laurentiis has contacted the 67-year-old to gauge his availability.
Sarri previously led Napoli from 2015 to 2018, coming close to the Scudetto on a couple of occasions. In his final season they amassed a club-record 91 points but still finished behind Juventus on 95.
