The Austrian national team's World Cup journey has come to an end. Facing the reigning European champions, Spain, Austria bowed out of the North American tournament with their heads held high, putting up a real battle despite the 0–3 defeat.

One of the undisputed standout performers for Austria yesterday was our very own Alexander Schlager! The goalkeeper thwarted chance after chance from the star-studded Spanish side, recording a total of six saves. There was little the 30-year-old could do about the three goals conceded - hats off to him for that performance!
Just as we did for the group stage match against Argentina, we teamed up with the City of Salzburg to host an official World Cup public viewing event at the stadium. Thanks to increased capacity, around 4,000 fans in red and white came to cheer on their side together in front of the big screens, ensuring the match became a real highlight of this World Cup summer, despite the defeat.
For now, things are quiet at the Red Bull Arena again - but not for long. We will be back in action on Saturday 1 August when we host TSV Hartberg at home for our Bundesliga season opener at 19:30! You can secure your spot at the best possible price with a season ticket:
