Sebastian Kehl leaves role as Borussia Dortmund sporting director by mutual consent | OneFootball

Borussia Dortmund have parted company with sporting director Sebastian Kehl by mutual consent, effective immediately, the club said in a statement.

Kehl, a former Dortmund player from 2002 to 2015, had held the sporting director post since 2022. He joined the club staff in 2018, spending four years overseeing the professional squad before moving into the sporting role.

The separation marks a change in the club’s sporting leadership. It is intended to facilitate necessary changes for next season and give Kehl time to plan his next step.

He was thanked for his commitment, dedication and success, and wished well for the future.

With seven league games remaining, Dortmund sit second, nine points behind Bayern Munich. They are 11 clear of Leipzig, Stuttgart, who have a game in hand, and Hoffenheim.
