FC Porto’s home meeting with Sporting at the Dragão will be played on Monday nine February after the presidential election run-off forced a reschedule. According to O Jogo, Liga Portugal is expected to confirm the change tomorrow.

The decision was taken on Monday by Liga Portugal’s Permanent Calendar Commission, the body that sets the schedule for professional competitions. The 21st round fixture has been pushed back to that date.

The shift is to avoid a clash with the second round of the presidential elections, contested by António José Seguro and André Ventura.

The new slot also suits Sporting, who face Aves SAD in the Taça de Portugal in midweek on four or five February.

The Lisbon club would gain an extra day of rest as a result.
