Hull City have reportedly received an offer of £35m plus undisclosed add-on incentives for Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves from Ipswich Town.

Philogene and Greaves both emerged among the Championship's leading performers in their respective positions during the 2023/24 campaign, and the duo are being tracked by Premier League clubs following Hull's unsuccessful promotion bid.

Hull signed Philogene in a cut-price £5m deal from Aston Villa on deadline day last summer and could be in line to make four times as much in profit twelve months on, with the 22-year-old winger also impressing for Lee Carsley's England under-21 set-up.

After previous loan spells away from Villa Park with Stoke and Cardiff City, Philogene dazzled in the second-tier last season and has attracted interest from Barcelona, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur among others.

Meanwhile, Greaves' own displays saw him earn a place in the Championship Team of the Season last time out, and his profile as a young, left-footed central defender with exemplary ball-playing qualities has understandably earned a fair share of admiration from the top-flight.

The two starlets both appear equally destined to leave the MKM Stadium this summer ahead of a cash windfall for Hull, and they've been the subject of a £35m double-offer from newly-promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town, as reported by The Athletic.

Hull City

Football League World's resident Hull City fan pundit Ant Northgraves has urged the Tigers to analyse other recent transfer dealings for young, sought-after talent akin to Philogene and Greaves before increasing their valuation amid Ipswich's offer.

"Realistically as Hull City fans, we knew that both Greaves and Philogene would be leaving this summer," Ant said when speaking to FLW.

"They are both phenomenal young English talent, obviously their ceiling far exceeds what they would achieve here in the Championship and they're destined to make a real name for themselves in the top-flight.

"So we knew it was something that was coming, but I think £30-35m for them both together seems like a lowball offer to me. I just don't want us to take less than what their value is.

"If you compare Philogene to a recent signing like Omari Hutchinson, Ipswich have just spent £22m on him, who got less goals and assists than Jaden last season, and Philogene was injured for two months.

"I would easily say he's worth £25m-30m on his own, he's got a lot of years on his contract, he's young, English, exciting, scored a lot of goals, top scorer, important to the team, there's all those variables to it.

"And then Jacob Greaves as well, young ball-playing English left-footed centre-back, happy playing left-back, can take the ball into midfield, very progressive on the ball - almost like a midfielder with his ball-control and passing.

"You've only got to look at other transfers like Taylor Harwood-Bellis to compare to, and I would say he would be a £20m player as well. I would probably be looking at £40-45m for the pair, otherwise I'd be quite disappointed."

Hull City could bolster promotion push by negotiating the right transfer fees for Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves

A number of strong points are made from a Hull perspective, namely that Philogene alone is worth north of £25m.

The Villa academy product possesses spellbinding invention, flair and trickery in 1v1 situations, while the scope for future development is also encouraging given how much he's already improved from his loan stint with Cardiff in 2023.

But Philogene and Greaves both have their individual qualities that make them invaluable assets to Hull, who can't allow that to pass them by and accept any fees that they may live to regret in years to come, such as the one fielded by the Tractor Boys.

However, it's not all doom and gloom if and when the gifted pair depart either, as you've got to remember the cash windfall that it would welcome.

The reception and flexibility of that would be dependent on how much Hull accept, of course, which surely cannot fall under the £45m mark for the duo at an absolute minimum.
