According to L'Équipe, some Senegal players briefly left the field after a stoppage time penalty was awarded to Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations final.

The spot-kick, given at the end of second-half added time for a tangle between Diouf and Brahim Diaz, sparked a walk-off. Head coach Pape Thiaw urged his players to leave the pitch.

A few minutes earlier, Senegal had seen a goal ruled out at the start of added time.

After several minutes of discussions, captain Sadio Mané led the team back onto the pitch.

Diaz then tried a panenka down the middle, but failed to score as Édouard Mendy stood his ground.
