Sergio Ramos could become Sevilla's majority owner after an agreement in principle with the club's leading shareholders, Marca reports.
El País reports that the proposed deal covers about 80% of the club for more than €400 million, with shares priced around €3,500. Any takeover would still require approval from La Liga and Spain's Higher Sports Council.
Marca adds that the agreement followed a two-hour meeting between Ramos, Five Eleven Capital chief executive Martin Ink and Sevilla's majority shareholders. That summit came after a nine-hour session the previous day to conclude a process that began in mid-January.
Sevilla, Europa League winners in 2023 for a seventh time, have since been fighting to stay in La Liga. With three matches left they are 13th, three points above the relegation places, after finishing 17th last season by one point.
An academy graduate who moved to Real Madrid in 2005, Ramos returned to Sevilla in 2023 for a final season in Spain. Now 40 and most recently at CF Monterrey in Mexico, he could now move into a boardroom role at his boyhood club.
