Serie A leaders Roma scored a 99th-minute equaliser to salvage a 3-3 draw from their eventful away meeting with relegation-threatened Parma.

The draw allowed Inter to close the gap on the leaders as their winning streak continues, but Roma remain five points ahead. Meanwhile, Chiara Beccari netted a hat-trick in Juventus’ commanding victory over Sassuolo.

Here’s how the latest Serie A action unfolded.

Roma rescue point from Parma clash

Parma went agonisingly close to beating league leaders Roma on Sunday. Kerlly Real got the scoring up and running following a mix-up in the Roma backline. Manuela Giugliano levelled the scoreline from the penalty spot, before Danielle Cox diverted the ball home from a deep free-kick to restore the home side’s advantage. An unlikely win looked on when Veronica Benedetti tapped in from close range in the early stages of the second period.

However, Roma were given a lifeline when their former defender Hawa Cissoko was penalised for a handball in the box. The 28-year-old received a second yellow card, and the composed Giugliano netted her second penalty of the game.

After being reduced to 10 players, Parma did their utmost to cling on to their lead, only to suffer heartbreak in the ninth minute of stoppage time. Rinsola Babajide towered high to meet Giulia Dragoni’s cross, sending her header looping over Camelia Ceasar and into the net.

While they may have rescued a draw, Roma would have been disappointed with their failure to claim a fourth consecutive league win.

Juventus’ hat-trick hero

Chiara Beccari, who spent time on loan at Sassuolo in 2023/24, produced a match-winning display in Sunday’s 4-0 home win against her former side. The 21-year-old required just nine minutes to break the deadlock before Cristiana Girelli added a second. A difficult first half got worse for Sassuolo when Beccari beat goalkeeper Solene Durand to an inviting cross to head home a goal that effectively sealed all three points before the break.

The only question left was whether Beccari would complete her hat-trick. The forward provided the answer in the 56th minute, racing onto Girelli’s precise pass before calmly lifting the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper. The win enabled the third-placed side to reduce the gap to leaders Roma to six points.

Inter boost title hopes on Serie A match-day 12

After beating Ternana in the Coppa Italia semi-finals, Inter enjoyed more success against the Rossoverdi in Sunday’s league clash. Marie Detruyer scored the only goal in the sixth minute, driving a low shot out of Katia Schroffenegger’s reach. Detrruyer’s first Serie A goal clinched Inter’s ninth consecutive victory in all competitions, moving them to within five points of leaders Roma.

Milan and Napoli win to nil

Kayleigh van Dooren proved to be AC Milan’s hero in Sunday’s home meeting with Genoa. The contest looked set to finish all square after Van Dooren saw her opener cancelled out by Norma Cinotti, who saw her 60th-minute penalty saved before she tapped in the rebound.

With the game finely balanced, Milan substitute Chanté Dompig made an impact within seconds of her introduction, playing a perfectly-weighted through ball to send Van Dooren beyond the Genoa backline, before the 26-year-old drilled her shot past Camilla Forcinella. Van Dooren’s effort sealed back-to-back braces in Serie A and moved her side up to fourth place.

Napoli climbed up to fifth spot with a narrow victory over Fiorentina on Monday evening. The visitors opened the scoring through Cecilie Fløe in the eighth minute. The 24-year-old soon turned from provider for Marija Banušić to double Napoli’s lead before the 20-minute mark. Fiorentina’s Iris Omarsdottir pulled a goal back in the closing stages, but Napoli saw out the remainder of the contest to make it three consecutive league games without defeat.

Frustration for Lazio and Como

Elsewhere, Zara Kramžar scored her third goal in two games to give Como an early lead in their away meeting with Lazio. However, the 20-year-old soon saw her header cancelled out by Nikola Karczewska, who showed great composure to work the space to fire a left-foot shot in from outside the box. Both teams struck the woodwork in search of a winner, but they ultimately had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Did you know?

Parma produced a strong display from the leaders, but Babajide’s late leveller extended their winless run to nine league games. Their one and only Serie A victory this season took place against Sassuolo in October.

Karczewska gets the nod for our goal of the weekend. The forward showed great strength to latch onto a pass forward, before she skipped away from another Como defender and fired past goalkeeper Astrid Gilardi, who had been caught off her line.
