Juventus required a late goal to see off newly-promoted Ternana on matchday four of the 2025/26 Serie A season. Meanwhile, Roma maintained their perfect record with a dominant display against Inter.

We’ve rounded up the latest action in Italy’s top flight as 2024 Serie A champions Roma stand strong at the top of the table.

Juventus snatch three points

Juventus were made to work for all three points in their home meeting with Ternana. Former Inter striker Michela Cambiaghi headed Juventus into the lead with her first Serie A goal for the club. After conceding on the stroke of half-time, Ternana produced a swift response in the opening stages of the second period. Stephanie Breitner curled a free-kick over the wall and out of Pauline Peyraud-Magnin’s reach to pull the newly-promoted side level.

The hosts looked set to play out a frustrating draw until Cambiaghi snatched all three points with an 89th-minute winner. Cambiaghi towered high at the far post to head home from Barbara Bonansea’s deep cross. The late effort sealed back-to-back wins for Juventus and a fourth consecutive loss for Ternana. While they remain pointless, the basement side can at least take confidence from the fact that they ran the reigning champions close.

Roma stay perfect

Juventus remain five points adrift of Roma, who maintained their 100 percent start to the Serie A season with a commanding win over Inter. Marta Pandini netted a fourth-minute opener to get the league leaders off to the perfect start. Giulia Dragoni doubled Roma’s advantage midway through the first period, scoring for the third time four Serie A appearances this season. Captain Manuela Giugliano completed the win in stoppage time, lashing home a volley from Evelyne Viens’s neat flick.

Fiorentina prevail, Parma frustrate Napoli

Fiorentina required just one goal to get the better of Sassuolo at the weekend. Madelen Janogy produced the decisive effort in first-half stoppage time. The Swedish attacker headed in from Sofie Bredgaard’s deep delivery to score for the third time in two matches. Fiorentina celebrated back-to-back wins, while Sassuolo have lost two of their last three outings.

Napoli are sitting in second place and level on points with Juventus and Fiorentina. While they will be pleased with their league position, they would have been frustrated to miss out on all three points in Saturday’s away clash with Parma. The visitors took the lead through midfielder Natalie Muth. The 27-year-old produced a first-time finish from the edge of the box, driving the ball out of the reach of Camelia Ceasar.

Trailing at the break, Parma found the all-important equaliser just past the hour mark. Manon Uffren’s looping cross dipped at the right time for Gaia Distefano to head past the onrushing Beatrice Beretta. Distefano’s effort proved enough to clinch a point and extend Parma’s unbeaten run to three matches.

AC Milan prevail in entertaining encounter

AC Milan emerged victorious from their six-goal thriller against Lazio. Kayleigh van Dooren netted a brace inside the opening 20 minutes to get the hosts off to a perfect start. Martina Piemonte then hit back against her former side, holding off Kay-Lee de Sanders to fire the ball past Laura Giuliani. Monica Renzotti restored Milan’s two-goal advantage in the closing stages of the half. The forward cleverly lifted the ball over the diving Francesca Durante to score for the third time in two matches.

Piemonte gave the visitors renewed hope when she registered her second goal of the game within eight minutes of the restart. Lazio were then presented with a golden opportunity to complete the comeback from the penalty spot, after the referee ruled that Noemi Visentin had been fouled in the box. However, Clarisse Le Bihan fluffed her lines as she drove her penalty against the upright. Lazio’s fading hopes of salvaging a point were extinguished by Evelyn Ijeh’s 78th-minute effort.

AC Milan celebrated their second league win of the season, while Lazio have now lost their last two matches.

Como clinch first home victory

Como sealed their first home league win of the season in Saturday’s meeting with Genoa. Nadine Nischler opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Emma Lipman was penalised for a rash challenge on Veronica Bernardi. The hosts went on to double their advantage in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Mathilde Kruse’s low cross was dummied twice to leave the unmarked Matilde Pavan to drill the ball in off the post. Norma Cinotti’s 78th-minute effort denied Como a clean sheet, but it failed to spark a late fightback. As a result, Genoa fell to their third defeat of the Serie A season.

Best Serie A goal of match-day four

For us, Ternana’s Breitner scored the goal of the week with her effort against Juventus. Standing over a free-kick just outside the box, the 33-year-old showed great technique to get the ball up and down with enough power to beat Peyraud-Magnin.

Serie A matchday four results in full

Parma 1-1 Napoli

AC Milan 4-2 Lazio

Como 2-1 Genoa

Roma 3-0 Inter

Juventus 2-1 Ternana

Sassuolo 0-1 Fiorentina
