Serie A striker shuffle: Santiago Castro joins Roma as Artem Dovbyk moves to Bologna on loan

Serie A's striker carousel continued as Roma signed Santiago Castro and Bologna took Artem Dovbyk.

According to L'Équipe, Castro completed his move on Thursday, and Dovbyk joins Bologna on loan with an option to buy. Gian Piero Gasperini had made Castro a priority and had pursued him for weeks.

The Argentinian, 21, will share the role with Donyell Malen. He hit seven goals in 35 Serie A appearances last season for Bologna, where he has played since 2024. The fee is estimated at 35 million euros.

Dovbyk, 29, joined Roma in 2024 but featured sparingly last term. He totalled 627 minutes in all competitions and scored three times.

His season was disrupted by hamstring and thigh injuries, and he has played only two minutes since mid-January.
