Lazio got back on track with a dominant performance at the Bentegodi, as Samuel Gigot, Boulaye Dia and Mattia Zaccagni ensured the Presidio era at Verona got off to a rough start.
The Aquile were stuttering so far in 2025, losing the Derby della Capitale to rivals Roma, then held 1-1 by Atalanta and Como. Loum Tchaouna was suspended, with Matias Vecino, Manuel Lazzari and Patric injured, while Pedro and Tijjani Noslin were not at 100 per cent, but Taty Castellanos and Mario Gila returned from bans. Hellas changed ownership this week with American investors Presidio taking over and the full board was in the stands. Jackson Tchatchoua and Suat Serdar were back from suspension, with Abdou Harroui out for the season following knee surgery.
It took just 90 seconds to break the deadlock, as Nuno Tavares robbed Suat Serdar to force a corner, which Mattia Zaccagni floated onto the head of Samuel Gigot.
Moments later, Ivan Provedel rushed out and made himself big to parry the attempted Casper Tengstedt dinked finish.
Boulaye Dia was sent through by a smart Matteo Guendouzi pass from deep inside his own half, the striker taking on three Verona defenders who backed away and he bent the left-foot finish into the far bottom corner.

Taty Castellanos drilled wide and Gustav Isaksen tested Lorenzo Montipò at the near post, while Ondrej Duda blasted just past the upright from distance.
Verona woke up after a dismal start, the Suat Serdar header looping up to thump the top of the crossbar with Provedel stranded.
Just as Hellas were pushing, they were punished by suicidal defending when Tchatchoua didn’t realise Dia was right behind him on a pass back to the goalkeeper, the Lazio man altruistically laying it off for the Zaccagni goal. A former Verona player, Zaccagni waved an apology to the home fans.
It should’ve been 4-0 moments later, Castellanos unable to get the final touch as Nuno Tavares flashed it across the six-yard box.
Domagoj Bradaric’s angled drive was parried by Provedel to keep the Lazio clean sheet intact, but Ondrej Duda received his second yellow card late on as his foot squirmed over the ball to catch Luca Pellegrini. It means Duda and Pawel Dawidowicz will be suspended for the showdown with Venezia.
