Massimiliano Allegri is expected to revert to a more familiar 3-5-2 shape when Milan take on Hellas Verona away from home in Serie A on Sunday evening.

The Rossoneri experimented with a four-at-the-back system last time out in the league, but fell to a massively disappointing 3-0 defeat at home against Udinese in the process.

That result has left Milan in third place in the Serie A table, and ahead of kick-off against Verona, they are currently three points shy of Napoli in second and 15 shy of rivals Inter at the summit, having played one game fewer than both.

Hosts Verona, meanwhile, are stuck in the relegation zone in 19th place on 18 points after 32 matches and require a miracle if they are to avoid relegation to Serie B at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Verona have Tomas Suslov back from suspension, but he might have to restart from the substitutes bench. Armel Bella-Kotchap is also available again after missing the last five matches with a hamstring injury, but is unlikely to be thrown straight back into the starting XI.

Pre-match reports indicate that Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao will both keep their places in the Milan attack and that Alexis Saelemaekers is likely to start from the bench. Zachary Athekame is expected to start for the Rossoneri at right wing-back.

Kick-off is due at 14.00 BST.
