Shea Charles back with Southampton as Leeds interest continues | OneFootball

Shea Charles has rejoined Southampton training amid ongoing Leeds United interest. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds hope to sign the 22-year-old Northern Ireland midfielder before their second season back in the Premier League.

Leeds have so far had approaches rejected by Southampton. The Saints are preparing for a second season back in the Championship after being expelled from the play-offs following the Spygate saga.

The new Championship season begins over the weekend of Saturday, August 15. Southampton start competitive action earlier, with a first round Carabao Cup tie at Colchester United on Saturday, August 8.

Southampton returned to pre-season last week, and Charles has now linked back up with team-mates after an extended summer break. He was pictured in training in photos posted on the club’s social media channels.

Charles was given extra time off after Northern Ireland’s June friendlies against Guinea and France. Leeds continue to play the waiting game over his signature.
