There were places for two Manchester United stars in Alan Shearer’s Team of the Week for matchweek seven.
Indeed, United’s defensive contingent has been rightfully acknowledged through the inclusions of Senne Lammens and Leny Yoro, both of whom started in Saturday’s clash with Sunderland.

For Lammens, it marked his maiden outing for the Red Devils, having waited over four weeks to feature following his £18.2 million move from Royal Antwerp on deadline day last month.
He played an integral role in securing United’s first clean sheet of the season, as well as earning himself the highest Sofascore rating of anyone on the pitch (7.8).
“The goalkeeper did the simple things very well on his debut. He made some good saves and commanded his penalty area in a much-needed win over Sunderland,” reasoned Shearer when naming his picks.

As for Yoro, he was restored to the starting XI after being controversially dropped for the trip to Brentford the week prior.
In the 85 minutes he played, he made three clearances, two interceptions and two tackles. The Frenchman also won two ground duels and one aerial duel.
“Played a huge part in a first clean sheet of the season and gave very little away,” Shearer said of the 19-year-old. “Man Utd look so much more secure when he’s in the side.”
The latter point will certainly give Amorim some food for thought now that he has a fortnight to prepare for his second visit to Anfield when club action resumes.
Liverpool will enter the fixture on the back of three consecutive losses in all competitions, which should be enough motivation in itself for United, who have an unmissable opportunity to add to their fiercest rivals’ woes.
