FLW's Sheffield United fan pundit has given his verdict on whether the club should look to re-sign Nottingham Forest loanee Tyler Bindon.

It is set to be a busy summer for Sheffield United after a disappointing season in the Championship.

After a nightmare start to the season under Ruben Selles, Sheffield United brought Chris Wilder back to the club for a third spell in charge in September, and it looked as though a late play-off charge was on the cards following his strong initial impact.

However, an inconsistent second half of the season stalled the Blades' rise up the table, and Wilder's men eventually finished the campaign in 13th place, 12 points from the top six.

Amid his side's faltering end-of-season form, Wilder warned last month that he was planning to make "a lot of changes" at Bramall Lane this summer, and as the 58-year-old begins an overhaul of his squad, it remains to be seen if he will look to bring back any of this season's loanees, including defender Tyler Bindon.

Bindon joined United on loan from Nottingham Forest last summer, reuniting with Selles after working with him previously at Reading, but he fell out of favour after the Spaniard's departure, with his first appearance under Wilder not coming until early December.

In a surprise turn of events, Bindon became a regular starter for the Blades over the subsequent months, and Wilder hinted in March that he would be keen to re-sign the 21-year-old this summer, claiming that he is "somebody that we would openly be interested in talking to".

When asked about a potential return for Bindon, FLW's Sheffield United fan pundit Jimmy, from the YouTube channel Blades Ramble, admitted that he was impressed by the New Zealand international during his loan spell, but he claimed that the club should not look to bring him back to Bramall Lane after he failed to form a strong partnership with Japhet Tanganga.

"This one will split opinion I think," Jimmy told FLW.

"Towards the end of the season, Tyler Bindon was our best central defender, so, on that basis, you'd say he improves our squad and our starting 11.

"However, it wasn't quite that simple because him and Japhet Tanganga didn't really work as a pair.

"They don't compliment each other's skills sets, and they just didn't really click together.

"Japhet Tanganga is our player, he was our captain at the end of last season.

"He came in for big money, so he will play, and because of that, and the fact that Chris Wilder opted not to play Tyler Bindon towards the end of the season, it tells me he's looking at alternative options.

"As much as he's a good player and will possibly get another move back to the Championship and play well for somebody, it won't be for Sheffield United.

"All that being said, as unfortunate as it is, that's probably the right decision for us."

At one stage last season, it looked certain that Bindon's loan stint at Sheffield United would be cut short early, but he enjoyed a significant upturn in fortunes in the second half of the season to transform his Bramall Lane career.

Bindon is a player with huge potential, and as he is likely to remain firmly down the pecking order when he returns to parent club Nottingham Forest, he could be available for a minimal fee this summer, which would surely be tempting for the Blades.

However, Bindon found himself out of the United team in the final month of the season, raising question marks over whether Wilder is still interested in pursuing a fresh deal for the defender, and his inability to gel with Tanganga could cost him a permanent move to South Yorkshire.

Tanganga was United's marquee signing last summer, joining from Millwall in a deal that could eventually be worth up to £10 million, and having frequently handed him the captain's armband, Wilder is clearly a big admirer of the former Tottenham Hotspur man, so he may decide to find him a new partner, rather than reuniting him with Bindon again next season.
