We looked at the expected transfer values of Sheffield United trio Gustavo Hamer, Vinicius Souza and Anel Ahmedhodzic according to AI.
It has been an excellent start to the season for Sheffield United in the Championship as they look to make an immediate return to the Premier League.
Sheffield United were relegated from the Premier League last season after just one year in the top flight, but they seem to be in a strong position to bounce back at the first attempt.
Despite working against a backdrop of takeover uncertainty and operating on a limited budget, manager Chris Wilder was able to bring in 10 new signings this summer, and many of the new additions have already made a big impact.
However, it could be argued that three of the Blades' key performers this season have been players who the club managed to hold onto during the summer transfer window - midfielders Gustavo Hamer and Vinicius Souza and defender Anel Ahmedhodzic.
Hamer, Souza and Ahmedhodzic have starred in the early weeks of the campaign, and with a strong possibility that the trio could attract interest from elsewhere in January, we looked at their current estimated transfer values (ETV).
Estimated transfer values are calculated using a Football Transfers model powered by AI, which takes into account factors such as age, position, player performance, experience, league strength and contractual situation.
Hamer joined the Blades from Coventry City last summer for a fee of £15 million, and his performances were one of few positives in their disappointing relegation season as he scored five goals and registered seven assists in 38 appearances.
It had been claimed that United were open to selling Hamer this summer if they could recoup the fee they paid for him, but that stance changed after his impressive start to the campaign, and they rejected a bid of around £13 million from promotion rivals Leeds United late in the window.
Interestingly, Hamer's estimated transfer value is currently €8.4 million (£7 million), which is much lower than the offer the Blades turned down from the Whites, and it is clear they value him significantly higher than that.
Souza was another player who was one of the shining lights for United in the Premier League last season following his £10 million move from Belgian side Lommel as he scored one goal in 38 appearances.
After Souza's impressive performances in the top flight, he was the subject of a £15 million bid from Fulham this summer, while Italian giants AC Milan were also said to have been keen on the Brazilian, but he remained in South Yorkshire.
Souza's current estimated transfer value is €7.2 million (£6 million), which is down from a high of €13.1 million (£10.9 million) from just before he made the move to Bramall Lane, but should United decide to cash in on the 25-year-old, they will no doubt be keen to make a profit on him.
Ahmedhodzic joined the Blades from Malmo in the summer of 2022, and after playing a crucial role in their promotion-winning campaign in the 2022-23 season, he enjoyed a decent individual year in the top flight, despite being part of a defence that conceded a record 104 goals.
Brentford, Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town, Wolverhampton Wandererers and Porto were among those credited with an interest in Ahmedhodzic in the summer, but to the surprise of many, United were able to retain him.
It seems likely that Ahmedhodzic will be on the radar of other clubs once again ahead of the January window, and his estimated transfer value at present is €8.6 million (£7.2 million), but previous reports have suggested that the Blades could demand as much as £20 million for the 25-year-old.
