Sheffield United midfielder Sydie Peck is on West Ham United’s wishlist this summer.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a standout 2024/25 campaign at Bramall Lane, after assuming Ollie Arblaster’s role in the team following his season-ending ACL injury.

According to the Guardian, the Hammers have identified Peck as an option to recruit in the upcoming transfer window. Middlesbrough's Hayden Hackney and Sunderland's Eliezer Mayenda are also both reported targets for Graham Potter’s side.

Football League World’s Sheffield United fan pundit, Jimmy (AKA Blades Ramble), believes that the club may be somewhat resigned to their fate regarding Peck’s departure this summer.

"Sydie Peck is a concern this summer," stated Jimmy. "We know as United fans there is considerable Premier League interest in him.

"He's a London boy, and I think West Ham is a smooth move into the Premier League for him. He has really established himself this season as a first-team player for Sheffield United.

"He took the opportunity when Ollie Arblaster unfortunately suffered his injury. He's not the complete midfielder by any means. He's not the finished article, but he has quickly established himself as a first-team player at Sheffield United.

"I think for the right price he may leave in the summer, which I don't like to say out loud, but that's the honest situation I think we're in at the moment.

"If Sheffield United can achieve a fee of £20 million, we've done very well. I think we're more looking at £15 million with add-ons as a more realistic price."

Sheffield United could turn Peck’s sale into a positive

Naturally, becoming a regular in one of the Championship’s leading outfits at just 20 years of age has led to interest from Premier League clubs.

Talents such as Adam Wharton have shown that young players can make the jump up to top-flight football after learning their trade in the second-tier.

There may be nothing the Blades can do if West Ham come in for Peck, with his London roots likely to lead him back to the capital if an opportunity presents itself.

However, Chris Wilder’s side can make a sale of the midfielder worth their while.

A fee in the region of £10-15 million would be good compensation for the player’s services and could allow the Blades to reinvest whilst softening the financial blow of not achieving promotion to the Premier League.

Peck is on a long-term deal at Bramall Lane, so Sheffield United won’t be forced into selling their asset.

Therefore, the Steel City side hold all the cards, and if they are played correctly, could turn this situation into a positive one for the club.
