The group led by David Storch completed their takeover of the Yorkshire outfit at the start of May, and will be hoping to rebuild the first team squad this summer.

Henrik Pedersen will be working alongside new sporting director Simon Wilson to ensure new signings come in and improve their options.

Sheffield Wednesday suffered relegation from the Championship with a 24th place finish, and their significant financial issues from being in administration has meant a lot of signings are necessary for the upcoming campaign.

The club have already confirmed the signings of Callum Slattery, Ricardo Santos and Jordi Liongola, with more expected imminently.

It has been reported by journalist George Smith that Sheffield Wednesday will be signing Barry Bannan on a free transfer.

This will come as a huge boost to the club, with the midfielder returning just six months after his move to Millwall.

The 36-year-old became club captain prior to his exit in the winter market, having spent over 10 years at Hillsborough during his first stint.

And Bannan is now closing in on a return, as he looks to help Sheffield Wednesday get back to a competitive level.

It has been reported by The Star that Sheffield Wednesday are targeting a move for Aston Villa’s Louie Barry.

It is hoped that the two clubs can come to an agreement on a permanent deal, but a loan move has also not been ruled out.

The 23-year-old joined bitter rivals Sheffield United on loan last summer, but he made just nine league appearances before being recalled in the January window.

Barry returned to Stockport County for a third loan stint in the winter market, with former Stockport sporting director Simon Wilson now in charge of recruitment at Hillsborough.

Further reports from the Star have confirmed that a permanent transfer looks likely, with Sheffield Wednesday set to pay a 'moderate fee up-front to Villa, with larger future bonus payment obligations'.

According to Alan Nixon, Sheffield Wednesday are chasing the signature of Murphy Cooper from QPR.

The shot stopper made eight appearances in the Championship while on loan at Hillsborough last season.

But he is also attracting interest from MK Dons and Plymouth Argyle, with his future at Loftus Road now up in the air.

It’s believed that QPR have given him the green light to discuss terms with other clubs, with an exit from the London outfit now all but certain this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday were linked with a possible move for Ipswich Town’s Wes Burns, with his contract expiring this summer.

However, the Premier League club have confirmed that the 31-year-old has agreed a new deal to remain at Portman Road.

This will come as a setback for the Owls, who were looking to add his experience to the squad to bolster their chances of fighting for promotion in League One.
