Eder Sarabia has ended his spell at Elche after two seasons of success. According to Superdeporte, the Basque coach confirmed his exit at an urgent club news conference, drawing a line under intensifying rumours.
Despite a contract through June 2027, he chose to close his cycle after leading promotion to Primera and then securing survival. Four days after the season finished, he faced the media to formalise a decision the club acknowledged had not been planned.
Appointed in July 2024, Sarabia delivered immediate results. His Elche side played 88 competitive matches, winning 38, drawing 24 and losing 26. In the most recent league campaign they recorded 10 wins, 13 draws and 15 defeats.
News of his departure has surprised and saddened many supporters, while raising doubts about the short-term direction. Elche must now begin the search for a new head coach for next season.
Meanwhile, Aleix Febas tearfully announced he will not renew his deal. He said he wants experiences he cannot pursue at Elche, that the decision was not financial, that the club made a big effort, and that at 30 he is unsure such chances will come again. He added he had offers from abroad and has always prioritised sporting reasons, and he is very close to becoming Celta’s first signing for 26/27.
