Simon Adingra has joined Monaco on loan until the end of the season and is in contention at Strasbourg tonight in the Coupe de France round of 16. According to Nice-Matin, the Ivorian was presented to the media on Thursday and is available for the 21:00 kick-off.
Monaco had been seeking attacking cover since Takumi Minamino suffered a cruciate knee injury late 2025 away to Auxerre. The deal was sealed on Monday evening.
After a difficult spell at Sunderland this season, Adingra said he is now focused on Monaco. He feels good physically and mentally, and believes things could go well.
Before committing, he spoke with compatriot Wilfried Singo, formerly of Monaco and now at Galatasaray. He also consulted Ivory Coast coach Emerse Faé as he aims to work his way back into the national team after missing the last Africa Cup of Nations.
Coach Sébastien Pocognoli highlighted the winger’s versatility, noting he can play left or right, support the striker, or operate as wing-back. Drawing on shared links with Union Saint-Gilloise, he said feedback on the player’s character was positive and that Adingra could unlock tactical options.
Adingra appreciated the project outlined by Pocognoli and feels the French-speaking environment suits him. Having played less this season, he wants to regain confidence and help Monaco continue their upturn.
