Simon Adingra (24) described his spell at Sunderland as “difficult”, as the Ivory Coast international was presented as an AS Monaco player on Wednesday.
Adingra has joined Monaco on loan from Sunderland until the end of the season. The Principality club have a buy option included in the deal, reported to be worth €17m. It was a difficult start to the season for the forward, who, following his big-money move from Brighton and Hove Albion to Sunderland, featured sparingly for the latter, starting just nine times in the Premier League.
At Monaco, he is now looking to rediscover his best form. “All players need to enjoy themselves, regardless of the league that they’re playing in. When you play a lot, you enjoy yourself. Did I lose that? Yes, I played less this season. I am here to gain confidence and move forward,” said Adingra in a press conference attended by Get French Football News.
He added, “My season at Sunderland? It was defined by more difficult moments. But now I’m at Monaco, and my focus is here.”
