Therese Sjogran says she can’t wait to welcome City’s England quartet back to the CFA following their dramatic Euro 2025 final victory.
Alex Greenwood, Lauren Hemp, Khiara Keating and Jess Park all helped the Lionesses retain their status as European champions with a 3-1 penalty win over World Cup winners, Spain.
In doing so, they became the first England team to win a major tournament on foreign soil, with Greenwood finding the net in the shootout success.
And Sjogran was quick to praise our Lionesses’ achievements, hoping that they’ll carry that momentum into the start of the 2025/26 campaign for City.
“It’s going to be great to have them back,” our Women’s Director of Football said.
“When you win something, you can come in on a high and hopefully they can bring their feelings and positive things back.
“It’s good for English football as well, hopefully we can sell out the stadiums. I’m happy for them and I can’t wait for them to come back.”
City defender Leila Ouahabi was part of the Spain side who finished as runners-up, helping La Roja reach their first-ever European Championship final.
Sjogran also offered her commiserations to Ouahabi, but insisted she and her team-mates can hold their heads high.
She added: “Of course, it’s tough but it’s always going to be one team losing, this time it was Spain.
“But I hope she looks back in a couple of days and still be proud of what she and Spain have done at the tournament.”
As the curtain falls on this summer’s Euros, our players can look back with pride on the impact we’ve had on the tournament.
Five members of the Blues’ squad reached the final, while Iman Beney helped Switzerland reach the Euros knockout stages for the first time in their history.
Elsewhere, Rebecca Knaak and Syndey Lohmann’s Germany reached the semis, while Vivianne Miedema also became the first Dutch player to score 100 goals for her nation at Euro 2025.
For Sjogran, our players’ achievements on the world stage illustrate the quality new Head Coach Andrée Jeglertz will have at his disposal in 2025/26.
She said: “Of course, I’m very proud and it also gives us a receipt that we have a very good squad.
“I think just being at a tournament like that, it was a sellout on every game, so I hope everyone comes back with new energy wanting to come into the new season.
“We’re going to need everyone, and I’m really looking forward to the new season.”
