Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Inter haven’t yet decided whether to part ways with the Italian midfielder, although they attempted to include Atletico Madrid striker Simeone in the deal, facing resistance from his club.

Frattesi, 25, has just completed his second season at Inter, but he was never a regular starter under ex-Nerazzurri boss Simone Inzaghi.

Frattesi did not feature in the Club World Cup under Cristian Chivu due to a muscle injury and returned to Europe just a few hours before Monday’s elimination at the hands of Fluminense, alongside other injured players such as Hakan Calhanoglu, Yann Bisseck, Benjamin Pavard, and Piotr Zielinski.

Atletico Madrid have already signed another Italian player this summer, as they are on the verge of welcoming Matteo Ruggeri from Atalanta.
