Crystal Palace are actively working on deals for three defenders, with the outcome of those negotiations likely to determine whether Marc Guehi completes a move to Liverpool. According to Sky Sports News reporter Rob Dorsett, Palace’s recruitment team are balancing incoming and outgoing movement, with a loan move for Brighton’s Igor Julio understood to be pivotal.

Julio is currently undergoing a medical ahead of a proposed loan move that includes an option to buy. However, there are suggestions West Ham could attempt a late hijack of the deal.
Toulouse centre-back Jaydee Canvot has already undergone his Palace medical. The 19-year-old is expected to be announced shortly in a deal worth £20.8 million. This acquisition provides long-term reinforcement and may offer Glasner flexibility should Guehi depart.

Oliver Glasner is reportedly still pushing for a deal to bring in Serbia international Strahinja Pavlovic. Negotiations, however, are said to be stalling at this point, and no breakthrough has yet been reached.

In addition, Getafe forward Christantus Uche is also undergoing a medical ahead of a €20 million transfer. He is widely seen as a potential replacement for Eberechi Eze.
As it stands, Palace’s transfer activity remains fluid, and the outcome of these deals will directly impact Guehi’s possible move to Liverpool.
This window feels precariously balanced between promise and loss. On one hand, Jaydee Canvot looks like a forward-thinking investment. A £20.8 million fee for a 19-year-old might raise eyebrows, but Palace fans have seen what faith in youth can deliver.
Igor Julio, while not a headline name, brings Premier League experience and physical presence. But the spectre of West Ham lurking is concerning. Palace fans have seen too many deals fall through at the last minute, and losing out to a league rival would sting.
Strahinja Pavlovic, by contrast, feels like the kind of ambition fans have wanted under Glasner. His international pedigree would bolster the backline, though the stalled talks reinforce concerns about execution late in windows.
The likely exit of Marc Guehi to Liverpool is bittersweet. He’s been integral, and few Palace fans want him to leave, but a sale becomes easier to digest if proper replacements are in place. If not, it will feel like another chapter of short-term gain for long-term cost.
Christantus Uche’s arrival, especially as a potential Eze successor, adds further intrigue. Fans will want him to hit the ground running.
