Arne Slot has confirmed that there are ongoing discussions between Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah over new contracts at Liverpool.
The key trio are all approaching the end of their deals at Anfield and will be free to negotiate pre-contract agreements with foreign sides in January. Van Dijk recent revealed that his representatives have been in talks with Liverpool over an extension, though there has been less public progress on new deals for Alexander-Arnold and Salah.
Alexander-Arnold has been heavily linked with Real Madrid, where he would link up with England teammate and close friend Jude Bellingham in Spain, while there has been long-standing interest in Salah from the Saudi Pro League.
Each of the players have started the season in good form and Slot has said their contract situations are not ‘an issue’ as long as that is the case.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Brighton in the Premier League, the Dutchman did confirm that the players are ‘in a good place and there are ongoing discussions’.
“The contract situation could become an issue if the players don’t perform as they do at the moment, but they are so mature. At the moment all three of them are in a good place and there are ongoing discussions, like Virgil has said. They are not with me, we talk about other things.
“Let’s wait and see but all that he says is completely right. He doesn’t know exactly what the future holds if he doesn’t sign the contract.”
